Setting Up the Parent Device

The parent phone acts as the central command hub. From here, you can manage all child devices, modify limits remotely, and receive instant push notifications.

Step 1: Open FamOrbit on your phone and tap "This is a Parent Phone" on the welcome screen.

Step 2: Create a 4-digit Security PIN (e.g., 1234). This PIN protects Parent Mode from being accessed by children.

Step 3: Tap "+ Add Child" in the child selector bar to create your child's profile (e.g. "Alex 👶").

Step 4: A unique 6-digit Pairing Code (e.g. 482-910) will appear on screen. Keep this ready for your child's phone.

Pairing the Child's Device

Install FamOrbit on the phone or tablet used by your child.

Step 1: Open FamOrbit on your child's device and tap "Pair as Child Phone".

Step 2: Enter the 6-digit pairing code displayed on your parent phone.

Step 3: Grant the required permissions via the setup wizard:

Accessibility Service: To detect app launches and enforce time limits.
Usage Access: To monitor daily screen time accurately.
Device Admin: To prevent unauthorized uninstallation.

Configuring Screen Time & App Budgets

FamOrbit gives you complete flexibility between broad daily limits and specific app restrictions.

⏱️ Total Daily Limit

Set a global limit (e.g. 2 hours / 120 minutes) for the entire device. Once exhausted, all recreational apps lock for the remainder of the day.

🎯 Per-App Time Limits (Premium)

Assign individual daily limits to specific high-dopamine apps like YouTube (30 min), Roblox (45 min), or TikTok (20 min).

Bedtime Routines & Instant Remote Lock

🌙 Bedtime Routine: Define quiet hours (e.g., 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM). During bedtime, the device automatically displays a peaceful sleep screen so your child can rest without screen stimulation.

🔒 Instant Remote Lock: Tap "Lock All Devices" on your parent dashboard. In less than 1 second, all connected child phones freeze instantly. Tap again to resume normal access.

Extra Time Request Approvals

When an app limit expires, your child can tap "Request +15 min for homework".

1. A high-priority push notification arrives on the Parent Phone.

2. Tap Approve or Decline directly from the notification or parent dashboard.

3. If approved, extra time is added to the child's session immediately without restarting the phone.

OEM Background Protection (Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo)

Some Android manufacturers employ aggressive battery managers that might suspend parental control background services. Follow these quick steps for your child's phone model:

Samsung (One UI): Settings → Apps → FamOrbit → Battery → Select "Unrestricted".

Xiaomi / Redmi (MIUI / HyperOS): Settings → Apps → Manage Apps → FamOrbit → Enable Autostart & Battery Saver: No restrictions.

OnePlus / Oppo (ColorOS): Settings → Battery → App Battery Management → FamOrbit → Allow background activity & Auto-launch.

Vivo / iQOO (Funtouch OS): Settings → Battery → High background power consumption → Turn ON for FamOrbit.
